What to Bring

Maryland Fishing Licenses:  The “on the water” classes will be held on Deer Creek. This is Freshwater and requires a Maryland Freshwater License. If you want to fish the Susquehanna River on your own, that is a Tidal River and a Maryland Saltwater License is required. Licenses may be purchased at most Maryland tackle shops and online at:  Maryland Fishing License Web Page

Freshwater classes need a 4 wt. to 6 wt. freshwater fly rod with matching reel, line & leader, etc. If you do not have the appropriate fly fishing equipment there will be some loaner rod and reel sets available. Check with Registration Staff upon arrival.

Saltwater class needs a 7 wt. to 10 wt. saltwater fly rod with matching reel, line & leader, etc.  If you do not have the appropriate fly fishing equipment there will be some loaner rod and reel sets available. Check with Registration Staff upon arrival.

All on the water classes should wear waders or hippers with wading boots or sandals as a minimum. A wading staff is strongly recommended. Felt soled boots are NOT legal in Maryland.

Fly tying class needs a vice, basic tools & materials. There will be extra vises and tools for those that do not have the equipment.
